Artist Statement:
With this project, the possibility of approaching photography from the point of view of painting is explored. Instead of seeing photography as a threat to painting, photography is reinterpreted and recontextualised through the visual language and aesthetic principles of painting. This reversal of perspective allows for a creative dialogue between the two media.

Following Hammershøi's style, the aim is to capture the introspective and minimalist atmosphere characteristic of his interiors, recreating all the scenarios on a real scale.

All these interiors, beyond the dialogue between photography and painting, represent the author's wife, being really self-portraits of the artist himself.

On the other hand, the choice of subject matter beyond the inspiration in Hammershøi's work, refers to what Jean-Paul Sartre addresses in the context of his existentialist philosophy. Sartre suggests our authentic 'self' is revealed when we are alone and face our true nature without the pressures and expectations of others.

Artist Statement:
Why make art when you can create an experience?

Why I love sculpture
• We are physical beings and we crave a physical experience. • Flat art invites you in. Sculpture invades your space. • Touch it, feel its temperature, get hurt by it. • Watch it change with the light of the day. It’s a theater of light and shadow. • Walk around, step inside if you can. Invite a friend or two. Share the experience. • Leave it out in the rain, abuse it, see it respond. Rust and patina it has a voice. • Sculpture is alive.

Favorite Materials
I like metal because it stays where I put it and if I get too excited and drop it, metal doesn't care. I like real objects because they have meaning from real life experiences attached to them. Seeing familiar things triggers deep memories of past experiences in the audience's mind and brings those past experiences suddenly to life in the present. There’s a sudden collision of past and present experiences. It’s magical.

Sick of the slick
What if Someone had fixed Vincent’s brush strokes? You know, smoothed them out to improve his paintings. Yeah. Tool marks are the sculptor’s brush strokes, the artist’s voice. I choose to work mainly in metal directly. If you see rough tool marks on my metal art, I did it. I hope you like it. I do. I work in many materials and methods, but the real medium is the audience’ experience.

Artist Statement:
Delicate nuance of value and texture become tools in conveying powerful dramatic statements about earthly beings who are not afraid to wonder, think, dream, and take that one step beyond.

The inhabitants of the cosmic atmosphere appear at odds with their surroundings (many of which are actual, specifically named astronomical objects). This is the result when the merely earthly confronts its unavoidable connection to the awe mystery, and majesty of the heavens.

However, when fragile earthly beauty confronts sublime heavenly beauty, the earthly is reverently and silently humbled.

Artist Statement:
My work is a journey through the realms of my subconscious, providing a space to recognize and process emotions, seeking spirituality and deeper meaning in life.

Highlighting the transient nature of existence, I create multilayered photography underwater, the process that forces me to submerge and face my fears. This underwater realm mimics the liminal state of mind-an initiation just before meeting with one's new self.

In the context of metamodernism, my art reflects the oscillation between hope and despair, sincerity and irony, striving to compress the indeterminacy of time into a single image, capturing moments in forms not normally visible to the naked eye.

Water, a powerful symbol of rebirth, becomes my co-creator, infusing my work with spontaneity and collaboration.

Thus, my art invites viewers to embark on their own journeys of self-discovery, using these visual narratives to confront their inner fears and embrace continuous change and rebirth.

Art is to me, it is a same as my life, I cannot breathe without it. I decided to be an artist without any question. I studied 4 years at the Tokyo University of Art. They taught me many different of art, but one thing they did not teach me how art and I are connecting to each other. Creative mind is the source of art, and speaking inside of me all the time, how about this, it always gives me the idea of what to do, so I create the ideas from my creative mind, so those are the same source comes from it is me. I create art because it is from inside of me and comes from outside also as energy forms. I call those art.

Artist Statement:
From "Movement Interrupted" series: We are in an uncertain period in our history where things are disintegrating and falling apart on many levels: politically, socially, personally, and environmentally. This is what my work represents, yet I look for the beauty within the chaos. This series harnesses the breakdown of technology, which I use for fine art purposes. I photograph glitches that occur on my TV screen due to uneven reception before they disappear. The little squares that arbitrarily appear reflect how our technological world interacts with, and effects people and the environment itself. These are unaltered photographs not created using Photoshop or any algorithm.

The photo "Looking for the Answers" reflects how we are bombarded with information, confusing our thoughts, creating uncertainty and making us worry about the future and what lies ahead. The photos "Becoming One With the Land" and "Days of Change" are about environmental issues confronting us now and shaping our future - the dichotomy between wanting a greener planet, and the forces that are destroying it at the same time. The visions of the future are not always bright even though we might aspire to that. The future's not ours to see as the song goes.....

Artist Statement:
When I paint, I painting the moment. One perspective of the moment. The memory of the moment. My perspective of the moment. In this artistic endeavor, I tap into the very fabric of reality, much like a quantum particle existing in a perpetual state of superposition — both a wave and a particle, capturing the fluid nature of existence.

Each brushstroke resonates with the uncertainty and entanglement inherent in the quantum realm, where particles influence each other’s states regardless of the distance between them. Similarly, the emotions and memories that imprint upon my consciousness are interconnected, forming a complex tapestry of experiences that transcend time and space. My paintings become a canvas for this entangled narrative, depicting overlapping memories and perspectives that coexist in a dynamic dance.

My journey into photographic weavings began in November 2020 while I was taking an abstract photography class. A recurrent theme in critique was the linearity of my work. To push this further, I took out a pair of scissors and cut one of the images into vertical strips. Then, I took another image and cut it into horizontal strips. Finally, I wove the images together. Through this deconstruction and reformation of my art, I was able to view the images through a new perspective. I have been a photographer for more than forty five years. I was formally trained at the Rochester Institute of Technology in narrative documentary and editorial photography. To push the bounds of my printed work, I took a weaving class in February 2022. I am constantly experimenting with new patterns and different papers. I print my photography on a variety of different papers that lend themselves to specific patterns and perspectives. The act of weaving the images by hand is as important as the finished piece.

The idea of "painting with glass" has intrigued me ever since I first heard my instructor utter those words. I was fascinated with the idea of creating a piece that drew the viewer in, causing them to question the medium. I've used the D&H technique to create these realistic images since 2022. Majestic animals such as the bald eagle, lions, and other large cats truly captivate my interest. When their images are captured in glass, the results can be breathtaking. I find it fascinating to place each shard of glass with precision to bring an image to life. The goal of my art is to share the wonder that is created with glass.

Rather than a signature style, what characterizes my work is the unexpected in terms of medium, subject matter and thinking process. I enjoy each piece being somewhat disruptive and different from anything that has come before it. This ambiguous approach, sometimes delineated and other times blurred, reminds me of how each dream I have is always in an entirely new location, and I enjoy this element of surprise in my artwork. I draw from nature, the man made world of architecture, still life, the human figure, and the inner musings of my mind. Although I mainly paint abstractly on canvas and wood panel in oil, I also use acrylic, charcoal, wax pastel, watercolor, hand-painted collaged paper, and found objects. For the most part, the process of creating is more important to me than the end result.
